VISION 2018 recap
From 6th to 8th November, we’ve attended the VISION 2018 trade fair in Stuttgart, the world’s leading trade fair for machine vision. The VISION has traditionally been focused on more traditional, industrial vision, with many camera vendors present, and many exhibitors and visitors using traditional computer vision methods like edge or corner detection, thresholding, or feature extraction. Two years ago, the theme started shifting towards more modern machine learning techniques, and this year, at least a third or more companies advertised a product involving deep learning. The trade fair is definitely keeping up with the latest trends in the industry!
We were present with a small booth and showcased a demo of multi-face tracking, where we’ve enabled live 3D mesh tracking for up to 4 people. For the other tracked faces, we just showed a face bounding box. The tracking got tested extensively by loads of visitors and was quite an attraction. Many people were very interested to hear more and were particularly amazed that it runs from a simple webcam.
We’ve also demoed the preview of our 4D Face Model (see our latest preview release blog post) and found interested customers across a variety of sectors like dentistry, and the creative and retail industries.
A few final impressions of the construction of our booth, and the VISION trade fair hall, on the day before the exhibition started:
We’re looking forward to the next opportunity to present our technology!
